Caravans to Alumapalooza

If you’d like to come to Alumapalooza as part of a group of Airstreams, check out these caravans currently being organized!  They are all informal groups with no official affiliation to Alumapalooza or any RV club.  Check with the leaders for specific information about each caravan, and to sign up.

Silver from Canada

An informal caravan from Toronto to Jackson Center on May 31st. I will leave Toronto early in the morning and hope to be down in Jackson Center in time to find a spot on the field, Mapquest says about 8 hours. It will be fun blinding traffic with our shiny aluminum trailers, I’m bringing my polished 1935 Bowlus Road Chief.  Email John at john@openthinkinc.com

We are departing Appleton WI on May 28th going over the UP of Michigan stopping at Mackinaw City, Frankenmuth, Port Clinton and then on into Jackson Center, Ohio. After Alumapalooza, our caravan continues to the Spirt of Cleveland Rally, passing through Columbus and Akron Ohio. At the end of the Spirt of Cleveland Rally the caravan will go to Cedar Point for two nights, then on to Shipshewana, IN and the Indiana Dunes State Park before we blast back to WI on the 18th of June.  This is a pay-as-you-go and make your own reservations caravan. Anyone who would like to join up can contact Ed at eemerick@new.rr.com.

Region 2 Rally caravan to Alumapalooza. LEADER: Tom Waugh

We are working on a caravan to start either at the end of the Region 2 rally (in Biglerville, PA, May 26-30) and making it a two day trip, or meeting up somewhere along the way.  Whichever way we decide I’m sure there will be a few of us traveling together. This is not a WBCCI sponsored activity.  We would like to encourage non-members of the WBCCI to join us along the way.  We have posted the article on our website and we hope to update that information with the exact details by May 1.  Anyone who is interested, contact the leader at me1sirius@verizon.net to help decide the time and location for the meetup.

Quick Caravan from Top of Georgia. LEADERS:  Matt and Beth Hackney

We are running a Caravan to Alumapalooza.   This Caravan is brief. Given the Holiday weekend, we are making the trip in only 2 days.  We would love more company.  We have five trailers at this point.  If someone wants to come with us and they don’t have an Airstream, I can give them a couple of options for places to stay the night before we depart.  Contact the leader at eroney@aol.com or 706 830-8039.

Depart:                 Monday, May 30 (10 am) from Top of Georgia Airstream Park, Robertstown, GA
Overnight:           Levi Jackson State Park, London, KY   (http://kentuckystateparks.reserveamerica.com)

I-64 to OH-274.  LEADER:  Doug Doberer

A caravan of four trailers has been organized with intentions of departing from the Huntington KOA / Milton WV) near Charleston WV to
Alumapalooza.  Our current caravan participants will stay overnight May 30th at the Huntington KOA / Milton WV.  Departure for Jackson Center, OH will be from the nearby Walmart Supercenter Store parking lot promptly @ 9am Tues morning May 31st.

We will avoid the interstates and transit along Ohio waterways and rural countryside through middle Ohio from Huntington WV (~ 225 miles, ~ four to five hours drive time) to Jackson Center via state and U.S. Highways (WV #2, US-35, US-23, I-270 W, US-33, OH-274 W).

Our caravan will stop about noon for about an hour lunch break at Skyline Chili Restaurant (known for their “Cincinnati Chili”).  This is a satellite restaurant located on the southwest side of Southland Shopping Center Mall, one half mile north on Ohio Highway 23 (exit 52 on the I-270 Loop).  This would be a good time and location for anyone who would like to join us and arrive with a caravan. Plenty of parking.

Projected arrival time is approximately 2pm. Timely departure and arrival should place us at Jackson Center promptly for late afternoon initial events.

Join us at the start point or along the way. For more details, contact leaders at Airstream7249@Yahoo.com or (mobile) (540)631-6322.
