Learn Dutch Oven cooking at Alumapalooza!

When you’re camping, it’s great fun to try a little Dutch Oven cooking.  If you’re interested in learning how, you’ll want to attend Matt Hackney’s seminar at Alumapalooza.  Matt will demonstrate Dutch Oven technique and you can join him with your own oven.

If you’d like to cook alongside Matt, bring your own 12″ Dutch Oven (found in outdoor stores like Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops, also some culinary stores) and the ingredients.  Matt will be making Pineapple Upside-Down Cake “Done Dutch” over hot coals and explaining tips to make you a successful Dutch Oven chef.

This seminar is currently scheduled for Friday, June 3.  Click here to download the Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe, so you can participate too!

  1. Hi Matt, would love to join you with my own Dutch Oven. See you there. Rich

  2. You are more than welcome! The recipe is best made with a Duncan Hines cake mix. Betty Crocker takes just a little longer.

Plan on a few more DO meals too. We can practice on other dishes before Friday!

    Matt

  3. I will have my DO and plan on joining you. Regards: Dick

  4. When I was in high school, we lived for almost 3 months with no means of cooking other than an open fire. I think we used our DO more then than any other time. We even used it to make pizza and brownies! Most of the food ended up tasting better, too!
