Confirmed for 2011!

Behind the scenes, we’ve been busy putting together a great program of fun, information, entertainment and surprises for Alumapalooza 2011.  It’s too early to release the full program, but we can confirm a few of the things that will be happening:

Tuesday through Friday the factory will be open for tours (twice daily most days).

Andy Thomson of Can-Am RV will be back to present his excellent towing seminar. This one was a big hit in 2010.  He’ll also let you drive his Airstream and tow vehicle combination on Friday, June 3.  No word yet on what he’ll be bringing.  (Last year it was a new Airstream 23-footer towed by a 2.0 liter diesel Volkswagen Jetta.)

On Tuesday, May 31, we plan to have a short “Discover Jackson Center” bike ride, and a second (longer) bike ride will be mapped out as well for later in the week. Bring your bikes!

Deb Woods is working on an absolutely awesome kids’ program, which will include activities every day for the 5-15 year-olds.  Activities include swimming, movies, soccer ball kicks, scavenger hunt, and possibly kids’ yoga.  Please note that this is not a “drop off” program; an adult is required to attend/participate for every family.

Alex Kensington will present a great safety seminar that de-mystifies tires, CAT scales, and other running gear questions.

Rich Luhr is planning a “newbies” seminar that should be fun for everyone (even if you’re not a newbie!) based on his upcoming book, “The Newbies Guide To Airstreaming

Dave Schumann of Airstream will be back to talk about easy maintenance every Airstream owner can do themselves.

The Jackson Center Fire Department will come by and cut up a car right in front of you, as part of their “Jaws of Life” demonstration.

Kristiana Spaulding will present on the subject of Airstream interior design.

Sue Dooley of Airstream will talk about new and upcoming Airstream products, and on Saturday Airstream will have an Open House of new products next to the main field.

Eleanor O’Dea will cook up an Airstream meal on stage, right in front of you, on an actual Airstream galley (stove/oven/sink), demonstrating what you can do easily in a small space.  A few lucky people will get to eat what she has created, too!

Colin Hyde will talk about the costs and considerations of vintage Airstream restoration. This is a must-attend for anyone contemplating renovating an Airstream.

Twice during the week, we’ll have Open Grill night, where you can cook out with everyone among the tiki torches.

Antsy McClain of the Trailer Park Troubadours will perform solo on Thursday night, and we’ll have the full band on Saturday night!

We’re also introducing a new competition, called “Rivet Masters,” where teams of two can compete for prizes by riveting an actual Airstream shell as quickly and accurately as possible.  Husband and wife teams are especially invited to play!

sKY and slaDE are confirmed to lead yoga sessions every morning.  This was another really popular event last year, so we’re glad to have them back.

Speaking of “Sky”, SkyMed will be back, as well as Zip-Dee and Dexter Axle.  We expect about 8-10 other vendors too!  Plus, the town of Jackson Center will be holding “Jackson Center Community Days” and there will be at least two local fundraising breakfasts/dinners in town, a parade on Sunday, and more!

Believe it or not, all of this is only a little more than half of the events we plan to pack into five days of Alumapalooza.  So you’d better arrive ready for fun and lots of activity.
